Hop Rhizomes

We’ve decided to try our hand at hop growing this year, and now is the time to pre-order hop rhizomes to plant in April. I’m eager to make a fresh-hopped IPA, but the chances of getting much of a harvest the first year are slim. If brewing teaches you anything, it’s patience 😀

I ordered two Cascade rhizomes and two Nugget rhizomes from Great Fermentations in Indianapolis and opted to pick them up in person, thereby saving $9.00 in shipping. Great Fermentations is next door to Bier Brewery, so this will be a good excuse to stop by for a few tastings and a growler fill. Plus the last time we were there we discovered Black Diamond BBQ right around the corner. If there’s one thing I like as much as good beer, it’s good barbecue!
